LEGO One Piece brings Eiichiro Oda's long-running pirate saga into bricks, following Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew. The sets focus on ships, locations and confrontations from the story, with minifigures of the main crew and their opponents. The theme is aimed at a broad audience: younger fans who want playable ships, and older fans and adult collectors drawn in by the large display pieces.
The largest set in Brickheist's catalogue is The Baratie Floating Restaurant (75640), followed by Garp's Marine Battleship (75646) and The Going Merry Pirate Ship (75639). Newer releases include Battle at Drum Castle (75645) and the Gum-Gum Fruit (75647), a display model of the devil fruit.
Although the theme is young, discounts are already widespread: nearly every set we track in Denmark is on offer somewhere, with an average saving of about a third off recommended price. The recommended price range runs from small play sets to the large Baratie. One set has already retired. Being a licence with a large international fanbase, minifigures of central characters are likely to be the main driver of any collector interest later on.
Compare prices before buying, since offers are the norm rather than the exception. The ships offer the most display presence for the money, and if you mainly want particular crew members, check which minifigures each set includes before choosing.
