How to get the most out of Brickheist

Brickheist is an independent LEGO price comparison. Every day we collect the live price of every set we track from the retailers in your country, compare it to the official LEGO recommended retail price, and keep the history. Nothing on the site is sponsored placement: the cheapest total price is listed first, whoever the retailer is, and we say so plainly on our methodology page.

A set page tells you four things at a glance: the cheapest current price and where it is, how far below (or above) RRP that is, how the price has moved since we started tracking the set, and the lowest price we have ever recorded for it. That last number is the one to anchor on. A 20 % discount sounds good until you see the same set sat 30 % off for most of last autumn.

LEGO pricing follows patterns worth knowing. The recommended retail price is a ceiling, not the going rate: in the markets we track, most sets can be found below RRP on most days, and where online retailers compete hard the first discount often appears within days of launch. Play themes such as City, Friends, Ninjago and the licensed lines are cut most and deepest; LEGO's adult Icons range and LEGO.com exclusives least. The deepest cuts cluster around Black Friday, the January sales and clearance of retiring sets, and once a set goes out of production the direction usually reverses.

Use the site accordingly: browse a theme to see what is currently cheap relative to RRP, open the set to check whether the price is a real low or just the usual level, and set a free price alert if it is not there yet.
