The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith
$0.08/pc
The Lord of the Rings has had two lives in LEGO. The first was a minifigure-scale play theme tied to the Peter Jackson films, later joined by The Hobbit. The second is a run of very large display sets aimed at adults, where Rivendell and Barad-dûr set the tone before the current flagship arrived. On Brickheist, most of those earlier sets sit under other themes, so this category currently holds just one set.
That set is The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith (11377, 8,278 pieces), the white city of Gondor rendered in tiers up the mountainside. At that piece count it is among the largest sets LEGO has made, a multi-week build and a serious commitment of shelf space as well as money.
Its recommended price is at the very top of the LEGO range, which makes discounts matter more in absolute terms. It is currently reduced at the retailers we follow by more than a third, which is significant for a set of this size, although one set is too small a sample to call it a trend. If Minas Tirith is on your list, measure the space first and then compare prices across retailers before buying.
