NINJAGO is one of LEGO's most successful in-house themes, a long-running ninja saga with its own animated series, characters and mythology. Unlike licensed themes, LEGO controls the story, which means the sets can follow the show closely and introduce new characters every wave. The core audience is children from around six to twelve, who come for dragons, mechs, vehicles and battle scenes, but the theme also has adult fans who grew up with it.
The play range centres on dragons and mechs, with Ultra Dragon Battle (71872) and The Twin Titan Mechs (71870) typical of the newest waves. The adult-oriented side is dominated by large, dense city builds. The Old Town 15th Anniversary set (71861) is the largest in our catalogue at 4,851 pieces, followed by Tournament Temple City (71814) and NINJAGO City Workshops (71837). These vertical, detail-heavy buildings continue the NINJAGO City tradition, which has become one of the most respected lines of large sets LEGO produces.
Discounts are common across the theme. Nearly every NINJAGO set Brickheist tracks is available below recommended retail, with typical reductions of around a third. The play sets are made in large numbers and seldom gain value after retirement. The large city builds are a different story: earlier NINJAGO City sets have historically risen noticeably on the secondary market after leaving shelves, so the current flagships are worth keeping an eye on.
For children, buy dragons and mechs on discount, which rarely takes long, and consider which characters are included, as they rotate between waves. For the large city sets, the risk is waiting too long: when a set approaches retirement, retailers often run out before prices collapse. Compare offers across the full retailer list, since the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive shop is often substantial on these bigger models.
