Speed Champions is LEGO's line of licensed cars built at a consistent minifigure scale. Since the theme moved from six to eight studs wide, the models have become noticeably more detailed, with better proportions, printed or stickered liveries and a driver minifigure in each car. The theme appeals both to children who want something sturdy enough to push around and to adult car enthusiasts who build rows of them on a shelf. Manufacturers range from Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-AMG to BMW, McLaren and film vehicles.
Most sets are single cars at a compact size, while the larger boxes are two-car packs. The biggest sets in Brickheist's catalogue are the Mercedes-AMG G 63 & Mercedes-AMG SL 63 (76924), the Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender (77264) and the Lamborghini Revuelto & Huracán STO (77238). Recent single cars include the BMW M3 (E30) (77263), the Ferrari 499P (77261) and the Fast and The Furious Toyota Supra MK4 (77260). Endurance racers and Formula 1 cars appear regularly alongside classic road cars.
Speed Champions is one of the most discounted themes we track. Every set in our Danish catalogue is currently on offer somewhere, and the average discount among them is well over a third of the recommended price. The price range is narrow, since the line is built around an affordable single-car format. Individual cars usually disappear from shelves after a year or two, and while a few popular models have gained modest value after retirement, most are replaced by a newer car of similar size.
Treat recommended price as a ceiling rather than a guide. Single cars are frequently marked down across many shops at once, so patience usually pays off. Two-car packs tend to offer a better piece count for the money than singles, and if you are after a particular car from a licence that LEGO rarely revisits, buy it before it retires rather than hoping for a remake.
